What is GPS and what does it do if you didn’t already know? A Global Positioning System can allow you to view the location of any specified vehicle, person, pet, asset at any chosen point in time.

GPS can collate a record at certain intervals of the person/vehicle that they are tracking. The data is collected in the unit which is installed into the vehicle or on the asset as such and then transmits it to a central computer which has internet connectivity or increasingly a mobile phone with GPRS capability. This way any product being tracked can be tracked in real time and watched there and then or analysed at a later date.
Fleet tracking systems can offer a variety of information and potentially bespoke packages to suit the pacific need.

Speed is one of the main and useful pieces of information a tracking system can offer, speeding can result in wastage of fuel and has the potential to damage the reputation of a company if their vehicles are seen speeding.

A tracking system can offer both security and safety to drivers and assets and increase customer service. They can highlight areas where management may need to set in place new procedures and management tools to improve their running costs and importantly their service to their customers.
