It was recently reported that a hospital worker has been sacked from his position as he was caught speeding whilst driving a sick teenager and his mother home.
It appears the father made a complaint to the great Ormond street hospital who then checked a vehicle tracking system which was installed into the vehicle. This showed that the employee had reached speeds of 93 mph on the A11.
This essential information was used to the make an immediate dismissal. By checking into the data history that vehicle tracking systems can retain, management were able to track the employee’s journey and see all occasions on which the employee exceeded the speed limit. A report was then written based on this.
This isolated incident just goes stop show how a tracking system can be beneficial in a wide area of any business. The tracking system would not have necessarily been purchased to check the speed of employees but is a useful tool for this and as proved can be used in customer complaints and investigations. It could have also worked the other way should there be a complaint of such a nature; it may prove that the driver was not at fault and not speeding.
Employees should be aware that these devices are able to monitor all aspects of driving as this could help towards ensuring this does not happen again.
