Vehicle tracking sometimes suffers from being viewed as a type of big brother spying system, hopefully this article will help to dispel some of those concerns.
Fleet managers often voice concerns when considering installing a GPS tracking devices into their vehicles; they believe that their employee’s will be resistant the idea. Fleet manager’s main concern is that employees will feel upset and view it as an invasion of privacy coupled with a lack of trust shown in them.
The sensible thing to do when considering equipping your fleet with a GPS tracking system is to discuss with your employees how it will actually benefit them. The advantages’ can include identifying and rewarding employees who work hard, employees no longer having to tediously fill out timesheets.
Another major concern that is often voiced by fleet manager’s centres around how long will their vehicles be off the road while having GPS devices installed. The process of having a GPS tracking device installed should take no longer than an hour to complete, this can be done during a lunch break or even at an employees home. The recommended way to perform installations is in blocks of ten vehicles at a time as this will be more cost efficient.
