There are a large number of businesses that are based in Birmingham and the surrounding areas that are able to greatly benefit by installing a vehicle tracking system. Whilst many of these businesses may already use vehicle tracking there still those that have not yet considered how they could benefit from these systems. Many businesses that own a tracking system which was purchased 3-5 years ago are now looking to renew their system and by doing so are able to benefit from cheaper pricing and more advanced features that will help them to manage their fleet more efficiently.

Recently there has been a lot of speculation and debate over the introduction of a congestion charging zone in Birmingham. This has been the case for many of the UK’s largest cities and has been in effect for some years in London. Should the Birmingham congestion charging zone be brought into effect, many businesses that have a vehicle tracking system whose fleet of vehicles travel within the city will benefit from the reporting and alerting capabilities of tracking.

Many vehicle tracking systems currently provide congestion zone based alerts and reports to companies which prevents them from incurring costly penalty charges as a result of non payment. This is because the tracking system keeps the company informed whenever a vehicle enters a congestion zone, making sure that the fee is paid immediately.

There is no prospect of a congestion charge being introduced in Birmingham as the proposals were thrown out in 2007.

It is quite wrong to suggest in this article which appears to be written recently that a congestion charge is even a remote possibility because it is not.

London remains the only city with a congestion charge and the area this covers will be reduced in the near future.

Well I have heard to the opposite. I have heard that it is quite likely that Birmingham may introduce a congestion zone. Also I think it is quite a good idea.
