It is becoming increasingly important that companies adhere to all legislations enforced and vehicle tracking can help with this by ensuring companies meet all regulations.
Obligations that must be adhered to are:
Working Time Directive
The Working Time Directive is a collection of regulations surrounding the hours that employees work and is there to protect all workers. One of the directives is that a working week consists of no more than 48 hours and employees must be able to have a minimum of 11 hours rest in every 24 hours. By having vehicle tracking installed hours can be monitored and cases where employees have exceeded maximum hours this can be highlighted.
Vehicle Tax
April 2007 saw the benefits in kind tax change on company cars from £500 to £3,500 per annum. If a company can prove that they have provided the car purely for business and not personal then they can avoid this taxation. By having a tracking system installed this data can be proven as records can be stored and used for evidence.
Corporate Manslaughter Act
In April 2008 it was brought in that any organisation could be prosecuted for any gross failures in managing Health and Safety which resulted in fatalities. Tracking can be used to view employees at all times so managers are aware of their movement’s and actions taken throughout the day and are therefore adhering to their duty of care to employees.
