There are a large number of vehicle tracking suppliers to choose from and many of them include the same core features that help companies to manage their fleets. These features include:
Geofence
A Geofence is a feature that draws a virtual ring fence around an address/location. These are used for alerting and reporting purposes and to help easily identify and address that is of significance to your business such as customer, office, depot and employee addresses. For alert purposes when a vehicle breaches the ‘ring fence’ the tracking system will provide an immediate notification via email or text message. Additional alerts that can be setup for Geofence’s include late and early arrival and onsite time. Companies that charge for services by ‘time on site’ can use tracking to provide accurate invoices and resolve any potential customer disputes.
Reports
Reports are a key part of a vehicle tracking system. The tracking application is able to generate a range of reports that keep a user informed of their fleets activity and performance and allow comparisons to be made between drivers performance. In addition these reports can help ensure that drivers are managing their time effectively and driving efficiently. Other reports may include which sites have been visited. This ensures that mobile workers meet contact targets and provides timesheet and mileage reports that help to accurately manage employee expenses claims.
