In the current economic climate, more and more companies are installing vehicle tracking as a means of monitoring their mobile workforce. The growth in this industry is so large that research indicates that by 2012 vehicle tracking sales will reach 3 billion Euros. This growth is largely down to the belief that by installing a vehicle tracking system it will save companies significant amounts of money.
Indeed, there are some interesting points that back this claim. Tracking companies claim that you only need to save 1 litre of fuel per vehicle per day in order for the tracking system to pay for itself. Vehicle tracking can save you money on fuel expenses through mileage forms and help you re-route your mobile workforce to work the most efficient way possible, also saving money on fuel. The insurance savings are another way you could save money, with some insurers offering savings of up to 30% on your premiums.
By 2012, research indicates that more than 15 million vehicles will have GPS vehicle tracking systems installed in Europe. But other forms of GPS are also growing, such as pet and person tracking. Person tracking works by a GPS receiver being placed in a mobile phone and in pet tracking in a pet’s collar.
