If you are a parent of a teenage child who has just passed their test and you have allowed them to drive the family vehicle, it can be a very worrying time. For peace of mind you would like to know where they are and that they are driving appropriately.
Statistics show that teenage drivers are twice more likely to be involved in fatal accidents than any other group. These accidents are usually caused by excessive speed or reckless driving. Technology now provides a way in which you can monitor their driving habits.
Tracking devices can now give parents the ability to monitor what speed their car has been travelling at, where the car has been and the more expensive systems can send alerts to your mobile phone if your car is being driven erratically. There are two main types of GPS tracking devices to choose from.
Data logging devices are probably the cheapest form of vehicle tracking. They can allow you to record location and speed. The devices can only record a few hours and you have to plug them in to a computer to read the information.
Real time tracking devices are a far more convenient way of vehicle tracking. These allow you to use a web based service to see exactly where your car is and at what speed it is travelling whenever you want.
