Employers may use tracking as a disciplinary tool. Employees generally have nothing to worry about when a tracking system is installed, although a lot of employees do worry. This is because they feel as though their employer does not trust them and is trying to spy on them.
However, from the employer’s point of view, their vehicles are assets that they need to protect. With vehicle tracking the vehicles security is improved because the system monitors the location of the vehicle, companies are able to use the tracking system when it has been stolen. This could make it much easier to recover the stolen vehicle, and get your driver back on the road as soon as possible.
Employees should have nothing to worry about if they are working their contracted hours. Managers will know where their employees are at all times during the working day. If employees visit places where they shouldn’t during the working day then the tracking system can identify the location through using Geofences.
Geofences are virtual fences around a location. Alerts signal when a vehicle has entered or exited a predefined location. The information from tracking systems can be used as evidence to support an employer’s decision to dismiss an employee from the company.
