Fuel prices as always are on the increase and have been now for a long time. This has had a huge impact on companies worldwide but particularly companies that have large fleets of vehicles and whose sole job is to deliver, collect, service, sales etc.
One of the largest expenses a company will face is that of fuel and if they can train and assist their drivers in reducing fuel consumption and cutting out wastage then they can go some way to cutting down costs and having a better chance at surviving these difficult times!
If you don’t know how much fuel is used at certain speed then here’s a small insight. If you travel at 50 miles per hour then you will use a lot less fuel than you would travelling at 70 miles per hour.
By using a fleet tracking system, fleet managers can monitor their fleets at all times and keep a close eye on the speeds that their drivers are travelling at. Up to fifteen percent more fuel could be being used by drivers who are not obeying the speed restrictions set.
Drivers could be speeding in order to get their job completed in a faster time and therefore knock off early but this is costing companies money and vehicle tracking systems can help put a stop to this.
