In a recent news report from Sky, it is thought that there is a new satellite device to be launched for tracking speeding from space.
The device has currently been named as SpeedSpike and uses number plate recognition and also GPS technology which will mean drivers can be tracked for a number of miles and their average speeds calculated.
Campaigners are said to be unhappy about this as feel it is just another way for drivers to be made money out of such as the London Congestion Charge.
One of the Big Brother Watch campaign directors ‘Dylan Sharpe’ commented that Britain is one of the most watched countries in the world and are now under threat of another network of cameras.
Some do feel uncomfortable with the thought of being watched from the minute they leave their house to the time they return and that it is intrusive and unnecessary. However others may feel that if you do not speed then you will have nothing to worry about and that we no longer want speeders on our roads.
People speeding may still be careful drivers but does this save lives when travelling at forty say as opposed to fifty?
A spokesperson for the Home Office was said to comment that they do not comment on devices until they are approved.
