Vehicle theft is a big problem in certain parts of the UK, which costs businesses and private vehicle owners substantially. Businesses do not only suffer the loss and financial implications of losing a vehicle but it can also cause major disruption to their operations and employees working day, resulting in more monetary losses. Vehicle tracking is playing a big part in preventing vehicles from being stolen which prevents both companies and individuals from losing money.
There are 2 main types of vehicle tracking system available on today’s market; fleet tracking and anti theft tracking. Both of these systems are able to increase a vehicle’s security and help to ensure that when stolen a quick recovery is achieved.
Fleet tracking systems are solutions that are designed for businesses to help them manage their fleets of vehicles as well reduce their operating costs and provide many other benefits. As a fleet tracking system monitors a vehicles movements 24/7 they can be used to monitor or locate a stolen vehicle which a business can then inform the police of its location.
Anti theft tracking systems are commonly considered compulsory by insurance companies as a requirement of theft cover being provided for more expensive and high risk vehicles. Anti theft tracking systems normally have a manned monitoring station supporting them which are able to detect attempts to steal a vehicle and communicate directly with the police to coordinate the recovery.
