Companies that work in the food industry have to adhere to strict guidelines when delivering frozen goods. Any products that are delivered with a temperature higher than -18 degrees will be rejected at the depot of major retailers. These rules are in place to ensure the quality and safety of the products that we eat every day.
Keeping the products at a constant low temperature can be a problem, as Lorries are often loaded so that they make multiple drops on their routes. As the lorry doors have been opened and closed a number of times the temperature can increase and it’s not until the lorry arrives at the final drop and the remaining pallets are temperature probed that the issue is discovered.
Vehicle tracking can help resolve this problem as they have a temperature application, which will sound an alarm, or provide an alert to the driver, when the storage bay of the vehicle increases above a certain temperature. The driver will then know that he has to shut the doors quickly to prevent the temperature rising above acceptable limits.
This can save thousands of pounds a year for a large distributer, as every time that a product is refused, sales are lost and fuel is wasted. This is one of a number of ways that installing vehicle tracking can save your company money.
