Tracker is finding that thieves are not only stealing prestige’s motorbikes, but are increasingly targeting less expensive models. Organised gangs of thieves are targeting models such as Peugeot Ludix which are worth £1000 and are big favourites with thieves.
If they do not have a tracking device installed they can be shipped abroad and broken down into parts and resold. Tracker now offers two kinds of subscription, annual or duration. In a smart move Tracker has reduced its Tracker retrieve unit from £259 to £199 and the Tracker Monitor unit from £399 to £299, with three months subscription free.
Using Tracker, Police forces up and down the country have the ability to find a stolen bike before it can be shipped out of the country. If your bike is stolen, you ring an emergency number provided by Tracker, who then activate your device. The screen in front of the operator will show them where your bike is, they then phone 999. A police car with a tracking map will be able to view the location of your bike in a real time view. The car in question can then call in back up such as police helicopters etc.
If the bike has already been placed in a crate waiting to be shipped, the device will still work. Insurance companies give a very good discount on bikes with a tracking device, so if a bike is worth a £1000 or over it is well worth the outlay for this product.
