More companies are now focusing on improving the safety of their drivers than ever before. This is due to the increase in awareness of systems that are able to increase the safety of drivers and government legislation, including the Health & Safety & Corporate Manslaughter Act, that reinforce the importance of businesses reviewing their Health & Safety Policy.

In fact amendments made to the Health & Safety Act and the introduction of the Corporate Manslaughter Act means that individuals within a company, including directors and managers, can be held legally accountable for the implementation of their Health & Safety policy.

It is for this reason that many companies are turning to vehicle tracking systems to gain better visibility of their vehicles movements and gain insight into how well they are being driven. Driver behaviour is a key feature of many tracking solutions. These systems allow a company to monitor the driving behaviour of an employee. Tracking users can be alerted to activities that could be considered as irresponsible driving such as speeding or harsh acceleration and speeding. In addition, tracking systems allow companies to monitor their driver’s journey times to ensure they are working within legal guidelines.

Many tracking systems can also be provided with in-vehicle Panic Buttons. These allow drivers to immediately alert their colleagues that they are in distress and in need of assistance.
