Recently new guidelines have been released and enforced for the Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act 2007 and also the Health and Safety Offences Act 2008.
Companies with fleets of vehicles will now face a number of key compliance objectives which telematics can assist with. One of the reasons being that since the announcement made by the Sentencing Guidelines Council, companies will not only need procedures in place but will also be able to provide evidence of their compliance management.
Using telematics technology companies can record data which can be relevant to the Health and Safety requirements of their mobile employees. This information could consist of distances driven, breaks taken, speeding and driving style.
Increased visibility that vehicle tracking offers can support companies in the years to come and offer a complete management system that can do the job needed to monitor for compliance with health and safety but also many other fleet management issues that can help with cost saving and fleet efficiency.
The guidelines set seem to encourage the prosecutor to assess company’s information taken over time and the actions and possible failings of senior management. It also seems that as well as fines some of the new recommendations are that of publicity orders where companies will need to issue a statement regarding any conviction or fine and notify shareholders and customers, potentially providing the information on their website.
Vehicle Tracking provides accurate and reliable tracking systems for all businesses both large and small.
