Vehicle security tracking systems have been increasing in popularity for some time now. This is largely because more insurance companies are insisting on these systems being installed as a condition for insurance for high value vehicles. In addition, due to the reduction in the price of security tracking, more individuals are purchasing these systems as they can save more money through insurance discounts than the tracking system is costing them over a given period. Most insurers require that a Thatcham TQA approved tracking system is installed but before purchasing a security tracking system be sure to check with your insurer that it complies with their requirements.

The majority of vehicle security tracking systems require a small tracking device to be installed into the vehicle. These devices actively monitor the vehicle and look for any suspicious activity such as movement without the ignition being on and sudden impact or vibration.

Upon detection the tracking system immediately notifies a 24 hour manned control centre. The control centre contacts the driver to ensure that the vehicle is stolen. Once confirmed the tracking supplier is able to follow the vehicles movements and liaise with Police forces to ensure that the vehicle is recovered ASAP. A quick recovery not only puts owner’s minds at rest but greatly reduces the chances of increased damage as a result of the theft.
