People tracking systems, also referred to as Lone Worker tracking, are becoming increasingly popular as they not only monitor an individual’s movements but can increase their safety as well. There a number of different tracking devices used by suppliers that suit different industries and professions but all of them are designed easy to carry and discreet where needed.
Mobile phone tracking is probably the most popular lone worker tracking system. A GPS (Global Positioning System) enabled mobile phone can be accurately tracked. Tracking systems that use the mobile phone network (Cell ID) do not have the accuracy of GPS based system. Mobile phone tracking is ideal for many companies as the system doesn’t require the individual to carry any additional equipment and hardware costs can be small (many mobile phone packages include the handset as part of the contract).
Identity Badges are another common system that is used by companies to increase their employee’s safety. This system requires an individual to wear an identity badge which normally forms part of their uniform. When an employee is in distress they can trigger an alert via the identity badge which then immediately informs their employers that they are in urgent need of assistance and provides their current location.
