On the 22nd January 2010, The Welsh Assembly, a trial of civilian traffic officers managed by South Wales Truck Road Agency was deployed.
This deployment was assisted by Masternaut Three X by the introduction of their vehicle tracking and navigations system.
The traffic officers will have the power to close any roads, divert traffic and stop traffic and put in place signs as well as moving any abandoned vehicles, all this contributing to them playing an all important role in the safety of Welsh roads.
Using Masternaut’s tracking system, a fleet of traffic officers can be monitored using their web-based system. The system is always on and reports back live data to the control room of the South Wales Traffic Management Centre. This gives the centre an overall view of what’s happening at all times and also displays individual vehicle location.
By using Masternaut’s tracking system the control centre can easily deploy the closest vehicle to an incident when first reported and track their progress, any stops taken and periods where they are idling.
By using Traffic Offices in this way it is hoped that response times can be reduced therefore reducing congestion within the area.
