These GPS based tracking solutions monitor vehicles in real time and keep businesses informed of their movements with minute by minute updates. Live tracking systems are ideal for companies that need to stay informed of their fleets real time movements and be able to react quickly to incoming customer work/requests.

The cost of live tracking systems has fallen over recent years. This can be attributed to reductions in the cost of mobile data which means that the update frequency (which is the time between location updates sent by the tracking system) can be as often as every 60 seconds or less without the customer incurring expensive costs. Many tracking suppliers allow their customers to specify the update speeds that they require such as every 60 seconds or every 5 minutes.

Live tracking systems provide many features that help companies to manage their fleet in real time. These include tools such as ‘Locate the Nearest Vehicle’; this tool allows tracking users to select any location on the in-application map. Upon selection of the location the tracking system will calculate the distance of each vehicle from that location. This allows companies to quickly determine which vehicle is best suited to attend a job.
