If you are considering, or in the process of introducing, a vehicle tracking system to your business there are a few small things to consider that could make a substantial difference to your business.
Software
There are generally 2 main software types that tracking systems offer. These are ‘Thin Client’ & ‘Web Based’. Whilst both applications offer the same levels of security and functionality there are differences in accessibility. A Thin Client application is a small program that is downloaded from the internet or installed from a CD. Normally users can download these applications to as many PCs as they need without the need to purchase multiple licences, although this should always be checked before committing to a purchase.
Web Based applications are accessed via a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. These can be accessed from any PC that has an internet connection and does not require any software to be downloaded.
Installation:
When organising your fleets tracking installations make sure that you have a full understanding of their cancellation policy. For example, in the event of wet weather conditions tracking installations may not be able to proceed in a non sheltered area. Ensure with your tracking supplier that you will not be charged a cancellation fee should wet weather prevent your tracking system from being installed.
