There are a number of professions where employees need to visit locations alone as part of their role, that may leave them vulnerable to assault or intimidation by a client. The best example of this is in health workers, such as mental health therapists.
It is now commonplace for these individuals to have a lone worker tracking system. The system can be installed into a mobile phone or ID tag and uses GPS to report the location of an employee to the staff in the office.
When the user logs onto the lone worker tracking data they can compare the actual location to where the employee is supposed to be, and ascertain if there is a potential problem, such as abduction.
The employee can also discreetly alert their manager if they become aware of an issue, as tracking systems often have a panic alarm set into them that just needs to be pressed to send a message to a predetermined individual. The user in the office can then send another employee to help or alert the emergency services.
Lone workers nationwide have expressed that they feel more secure in challenging environments when they have a lone worker tracking system, as they know that help will be on its way as soon as they need it.
