Health Workers may soon be given tracking devices to improve their safety and protect them against stalkers.
The Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS is said to be considering tracking devices to combat predatory behaviour. The devices will be able to pinpoint an employee’s location by using GPS Technology.
The Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS are said to be the first health board that are looking at the possibilities of having a stalking policy introduced as well as the training of their line managers in recognising the risks that are involved and the potential of introducing a buddy up system for when individual employees go out to work.
It seems this new thought process follows a number of reported incidents where staff are receiving intrusive and unwanted contact and times where staff have been followed without knowledge and physical damage has been recorded to staff members homes.
It seems possible that these new tracking devices and procedures may be in place for the end of the year.
Following a new law on stalking, stalkers may now be jailed up to five years for stalking and offences that will be recognised will include those of trying to make contact with a victim via post, email, phone and also hanging around their place of work or home.
