With a GPS Tracking System fitted a driver has successfully challenged a speeding ticket he received and won, a recent article reported.
The driver who was travelling around the Bristol area was sent a ticket saying that he had been caught on camera travelling at 60 miles per hour in what was a 50 mile per hour area. At the time he was working so was said to be caught in his works van.
The driver knew that he had Navman Wireless installed into his van and that the GPS tracking System should be able to tell him what speed he was travelling at as he doubted he had committed an offence.
The records that he was able to retrieve showed him that he was indeed travelling at 48 miles per hour and therefore he was able to contest the Notice of intended prosecution he received
With this information the case was thrown out of court. With eight satellites able to locate his vehicle the location is said to be accurate within three metres under good conditions.
The driver was said to be whole heartedly relieved and grateful for having this GPS tracking system installed as unless it had of been he would have been £60 poorer with three points on his licence.
