The UK government has announced that fuel duty will be increasing as of September this year. For many companies this price increase will affect their monthly fuel bill significantly. There has never been a better time to consider introducing a vehicle tracking system to your business.
Tracking is a system that offers companies that operate a vehicle fleet many benefits including reducing fuel wastage. Vehicle tracking is normally able to save more in fuel costs than the tracking system itself costs, providing a significant return on investment for many companies.
Fuel inefficiencies are often caused by the way a vehicle is being driven or poor journey planning. Tracking provides companies with the tools to be able to manage & control their fleet’s fuel consumption using real time alerting features and historic journey data.
More complex tracking systems can provide a ‘Driver Training System’. These systems still monitor vehicles movements and provide the data you would expect from a tracking system but also provide much more advanced features. These systems obtain data from the vehicle such as engine revs and MPG (miles per gallon) performance. The system is able to use this data to understand how the vehicle is being driven. The system will then prompt the driver using a simple in-cab interface to adjust their driving style to be more fuel efficient. Due to the complexity of these systems they are generally best suited to HGV fleets where they provide the biggest fuel savings.
