The majority of businesses favour using their credit or debit card for purchasing their fuel or diesel than a fuel card although this is more likely to be open to fraudulent use or in fact stolen.
Although debit and credit cards have certain security in place, today’s technology means that these types of cards can be cloned and potentially copied, however this type of activity does not take affect with fuel cards as they are protected in different ways.
Fuel cards do not hold bank details in any way which makes them less attractive to thieves looking to obtain money through cloning of cards and stolen cards. Also fuel cards do not allow money to be withdrawn on them from a bank machine or purchase anything other than fuel itself. The fuel card is basically worthless if it is wither lost or stolen making it a far safer way to carry out transactions for fuel.
Fleet Managers can keep as closer eye as they wish on the activity of a fuel card and fuel limits etc can be set to ensure the card is not misused in any way.
Fuel cards cut out the need for endless fuel receipts and just one single invoice is issued therefore making it easy to reclaim the VAT.
