Arval have been around for years and have a major portion of the fuel card market in the UK. Their fuel cards are simple. They charge the pump price for fuel and they’re simply there as a convenience to businesses who a have fleets of vehicles.
FleetCor who own The Fuel Card Company also have a major portion of the UK market and work across Europe. Their model is slightly different in as much as they offer “at the pump price cards” and “fixed weekly rate cards”. Fixed weekly rate cards give fuel card holders the opportunity to save money on the fuel they purchase at many forecourts. This is especially true when filling up on motorway service stations.
FleetCor have bought out Arval AllStrar for a whopping £194 million. This will extend their share of the fuel card market considerably in the UK. Arval currently have around 40 thousand clients including small, medium and large businesses and it is a widely recognised brand in the fuel card market.
FleetCor should enjoy an increase in profits for the coming year as a result of this acquisition and have also seen the shares in the US rise by 26 cents to a staggering $29.19.
