The fleet tracking industry continues to prosper through the economic recession. This can be attributed to more companies introducing fleet tracking to help them get through these difficult times.
Fleet vehicle tracking has a wide range of benefits but for many companies the most valuable of these is tracking’s ability to reduce companies operational costs. In the current economic climate generating new business is proving difficult across many industry sectors and companies have to look inward to maximise profits by reducing costs.
Fleet tracking systems require a small tracking unit to be installed into a vehicle. These units receive GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite transmissions which are used by the tracker to accurately identify a vehicles current location. The tracking data is fed back to a tracking supplier’s server and made available to users via a tracking software application often accessed via an internet browser.
Tracking applications provide users with the data they need to be able to ensure that fuel costs are kept to a minimum. These applications often provide a range of alerts and reports that keep users informed of idling, harsh accelerating and braking speeding and activity, all of which waste fuel. In addition tracking applications allow companies to ensure that their drivers are taking the most fuel efficient routes to reach their destinations.
