Fleet Tracking companies are toasting success in the financial downturn as they are offering one of a few things that can save businesses money in the recession which has hit both large and small business and seen closures increase.

Masternaut Three X celebrated success at the Fleet Hero Awards in 2008. Being one of the UK’s leading vehicle tracking companies they became runner up to BMW in the supplier category for its CO2 reducing GreenerFleet solution. The award recognises leadership in reducing the environmental impact of vehicle fleets. Masternaut said “We are proud to win second place to such a prestigious company as BMW. Our runners up award is in recognition of the huge difference that our GreenerFleet solution is having on our customers’ operations. By significantly reducing their environmental impact, while boosting their efficiencies and enabling them to deliver better service to their customers, we are supplying a real world solution to C02 emissions. The improvements are instant, across the board and range from improved fleet management at the routing and scheduling level right down to monitoring and encouraging better driving among individual drivers.

The company’s Greenerfleet solution is an advanced system for environmental management of vehicle fleets, enabling companies to gain live information about each vehicle, its driver and its location. It highlights the performance of each driver and vehicle within the fleet. GreenerFleet also includes a breakthrough fuel card data upload facility. This allows management of the data, with fraud detection and accurate miles-per-gallon calculations.

Another company thriving in the economic downtown is Quartix which has topped a £2m operating profit in 2008 and is confident of increasing sales and profits growth in 2009. They reported that sales approached £5 million on a base of almost 2,000 UK customers – representing 20,000 installed vehicle tracking systems.

Announcing the results, managing director Andy Walters said: “Despite the fact 2008 was a tough year for parts of the industry, we won some major new contracts and achieved strong growth in our SME customer base. “The key to our success, and our responsiveness to our customers, are our product design and service.”

Quartix design and build its own tracking system, The latest version, the TCSV, has been installed in more than 10,000 vehicles since its introduction in 2007 and plans to launch several new products and pricing initiatives to help customers through the credit crunch.
