Fleet News has recently published an article stating that they will be conducting an independent test into the benefits of tracking over two trials.
On May 27th the report will be viewable at Fleetnews where an evaluation of the benefits of using a tracking system will be shown using a van fleet. They will look at any reductions in fuel consumption and mileage and the benefits it can bring to operating efficiencies.
They are also going to be looking into the benefits tracking can bring to car fleets on improving safety and again fuel consumption and the impact fleets have on the environment.
The van fleet trial was set to begin on the 1st May on fifteen transit vans used by a Peterborough bases firm. The vans will be fitted with a range of tracking systems from Road Angel, Quartix and Tracker for a period of three months.
This data will then be recorded and matches to data for the same period in 2009.
The systems will not only be evaluated on the cost savings side but also on consumer usability for both fleet manager and driver alike.
Tracking company suppliers for the car fleet evaluation will be TomTom Work, Traffilog and Trimble MRM.
