There are two different types of GPS tracking devices to choose from, these two types of devices are known as active tracking and passive tracking. Each of these uses satellites to provide information for the user, this information is highly accurate. There are a number of different companies who manufacture these products.
Passive tracking devices are very small and easy to hide or conceal. To view information gathered by a passive tracker it needs to be removed from its location and plugged into a computer. This type of device is usually used by people who need to track mileage or monitor location stops. Passive tracking devices are extremely reasonable to buy and don’t require a monthly payment.
Active tracking devices are more sophisticated than passive devices; they allow you to locate a vehicle live on a map. To do this you will be required to install software onto your computer, when this is done you will be able to monitor a vehicle’s direction and speed in real time. The advantage of using this type system is that it allows you to redirect vehicles and warn drivers about their speed as they progress along their journey. Active tracking devices do require monthly subscriptions, but these subscriptions have come down in price as many new companies have entered this market place.
