Some companies are reluctant to install vehicle tracking because they are concerned that it will lead to low staff satisfaction, and are worried that an unhappy workforce will lead to a loss in productivity. However, a lot of these fears are unfounded.
Employees can be concerned about being monitored during the day. This is only a problem if they are doing something they are not supposed to be doing as part of their job role. Vehicle tracking is actually being used by companies to reward their hard working staff.
The data you receive once vehicle tracking has been installed can be used to show what time your employees work from and to, the amount of time they spend at each destination and the routes that they take. As well as assisting you in rewarding your most efficient employees, it can raise training issues in order to help the employees who need to improve.
Employees may also be worried about their journeys outside of working hours being monitored. Providing the employee is authorised to use the work vehicle for personal use, many tracking systems can be set up to not record the journeys that occur after a specified time, for example, six o’clock. This way, the employee still has privacy, and the company has the knowledge of how and where their vehicle is being driven within working hours.
