Many companies that have already installed, or are about to install, a vehicle tracking system may have met resistance from their employees, most likely drivers. Employees such as drivers can often feel intimidated by their company installing a tracking system. In most cases it is either that they do not have an understanding of the business benefits of a tracking system or that they are concerned about being exposed doing something that they shouldn’t.
Many drivers believe that installing a tracking system will cause a ‘big brother’ environment where their employers are waiting for them to slip up. The majority of companies install these systems to achieve fuel savings, and to increase productivity and vehicle security, not to watch over their employees.
In fact many companies have used their vehicle tracking system to motivate drivers and have noticed a marked improvement in driver performance.
Employees that are based in an office and are required to use the tracking application may be concerned that they will be provided with a greater work load. These systems are designed to reduce work, not create more. Vehicle tracking has helped many office employees to be more productive as they are able to respond to incoming customer requests and queries much faster, allowing them more time for their other tasks.
