Many vehicle tracking systems share the same core features such as live mapping, Geofences and real time alerts. However for customers that have more specific requirements tracking suppliers are able to provide additional features as optional extras. These features may include:
Driver ID Systems
This optional extra allows tracking users to know and control which driver is operating a vehicle. This addition requires a small device to be installed alongside the tracking hardware and for the drivers to be issused with either a ‘Dallas key’ or ‘RFID’ tag. The driver is required to use the Dallas key (RFID tags detected automatically) before starting the vehicle, the tracking system will record which driver is using the vehicle. These systems are ideal for companies whose vehicles are required to be operated by different drivers.
Remote Immobilisation
This feature can often link in with a Driver ID system. A tracking user is able to instantly immobilise a vehicle from the tracking software when a vehicle is parked, the user can also remobilise the vehicle as well. Remote Immobilisation is ideal for companies that need to control usage of their vehicles. A good example would be for vehicle or plant hire companies. Should an asset not be returned at the agreed time a hire company is able to immobilise the vehicle until the customer pays for the additional usage.
