Distribution services can achieve some of the highest savings by installing a vehicle tracking system. This is because a vast majority of the work they do is performed by a mobile workforce.

The installation of a vehicle tracking system allows companies to improve their customer services significantly. They can provide customers with up to the minute updates of where the vehicle that has the customer’s goods is, allowing increased accuracy on estimated times of arrival. Invoicing disputes can be resolved easily when they are based upon arrival and leaving times, as you will be able to prove the timescales using the data from the tracking solution.

Fuel savings can be significant when a tracking solution is installed into a fleet of Lorries or vans. In fact, the savings that can be made can outweigh the cost of paying for the tracking solution each month.

Further savings can be made by companies that run temperature controlled vehicles. Retailers have to be very strict at what temperature they will accept deliveries at. This limit is usually -18 degrees. Any deliveries above this temperature will be rejected.

Some tracking providers have an application that can provide an alert when the trailer of the vehicle drops below a predefined temperature so that drivers know to shut the trailer doors. This can save money that would be wasted on refused deliveries.
