In a recent interview that was released documenting a discussion with Cybits ‘John Wisdom’ it seems that Vehicle Tracking and a round-the-world yacht race now has something in common!
As one of the leading providers of Vehicle Tracking for the road industry has reportedly been recording the position, direction and speed of each yacht that has been involved in the Volvo Ocean Race which spans over 9 months.
Using Cybits BlueFinger technology, fans of the race have been able to follow the progress of their desired yachts in a three dimensional format throughout all 10 stages.
Cybit boasts a number of major clients such as RCS Logistics and although tracking vehicles on a day to day’s basis is a world away from yachting it seems there is nothing that tracking cannot reach.
John Wisdom reportedly commented that Hauliers are really starting to see the true benefits of tracking now and the significant savings and progress it can bring to their businesses. Fuel costs are massively cut and this is done by routing and scheduling vehicles, speed control and monitoring driver behaviour and performance.
Fleet engineers can study the intricate detail of a journey and analyse vehicle performance through real time delivery and detailed data. Also it assists companies to stay on the right side of the law with legislation compliance and duty of care.
With that in mind it seems tracking can be used for fun and informative purposes in sports and personally i would like to see this used in Formula One!
