As with all industries, vehicle tracking companies have taken a hit during the recession and many companies have found themselves with severe financial problems and the prospect of liquidation and winding up orders.
This of course is worrying for the consumer and any fleet manager or business owner now looking o invest in such a system. Pay as you Go and other payment schemes have been introduced to try and relieve some of the concerns contractual terms and financial commitment brings.
There has been a lot of recent news activity concerning Minorplanet and the call for their winding up by HM Revenue & Customs. Tracking companies are concerned as there is already damage to the industry and this just further expands the concerns.
However, the economy now looks to be on the up and the tracking industry reviving, now consumers just need to be confident in the financial options offered. One way to moving forward with this is that in 2011 new accountancy rules look set to come into fruition which will go towards protecting customers in the signing of contracts. These new rules will ensure suppliers spread the income they receive from contracts over the length of the deal rather than spending it upfront and in turn risking instability of the finances.
