Child tracking systems are increasing in popularity. This is largely because of high profile abduction cases such as the Soham murders and Sarah Payne. The public’s awareness of the dangers their children may face outside of the home has been enhanced, and child tracking can provide some peace of mind. This is good for the child because they will have more freedom to develop their own lives away from their parents, and the parents will feel secure because they will know where their children are.
The most common way of tracking a child is for a receiver to be installed into a mobile phone that the child carries with them. The downside of this method of tracking is that the phone can be switched off and the tracking signal will not be transmitted.
People also install vehicle tracking into cars that their teenagers may drive so that their teenagers can drive to meet their friends etc but their parents know where they are so that if they get into an accident they can be helped as soon as possible. Teenagers can have mixed feelings on this, but the benefit of having use of their parent’s car usually outweighs their reservations.
In addition, there are also pet tracking systems, so that you can know the location of all members of your family.
