In recent news the PDSA (Veterinary Charity) have begun to use the TMC Online Mileage Audit System within its fleet of vans used by Stock collectors who then deliver these goods to around one hundred and seventy charity shops throughout the country.
The charity can now capture information on fuel and mileage and analyse the data. Before having this system fitted most time spent within the office was inputting the data and figures into a system and now that time can be used analysing the actual data and using this to become smarter on their fuel spend.
TMC are helping the PDSA develop their vehicle policies for the future via the use of their system. There are possibilities that fuel costs can be slashed further by analysing journeys and routes taken to complete journeys and time travelled. Often fleets save a lot on simple and effective route planning.
In recent weeks also we have seen the Institute of Advanced Motorists call upon Lord Young of Graffham, who will be reviewing the operation of Health and Safety laws, to ensure driving for work is a priority assessment that takes place.
It is reported that approximately a third of road deaths involve people driving for business so this really must be a priority going forward.
