Officers on the ground and officers in a police helicopter tracked the signal to some farm buildings in the Bridgenorth area of Shropshire, when they entered the farm buildings they found the milk float along with other stolen vehicles and expensive plant machinery.

The TRACKER police liaison manager for area said “tracker is the only stolen vehicle recovery provider who works with all 52 police forces in the UK, this just shows how a vehicle tracking device can save a company or an individual money.

A police spokesman commented on the incident “if the milk float in question had not been fitted with a tracking device, I very much doubt we would have been able to locate and recover it along with the other three vehicles, one was in the process of being stripped down, which I believe the others would have followed that same process”.

The thieves had obviously thought that they had committed the perfect crime and had got away with the poor man’s bike, hiding it up in some woods. Little did they know that the bike was fitted with TRACKER and the police didn’t take long to locate it.

For the police this is great news as bikes stolen like this are often used for off- roading. Off- roading is obviously a pain for people who live nearby due to the noise and speed it’s driven which as a result is dangerous. Dangerous not just for the thieves but for the unknowing public who might be unfortunate enough to come across the bikers.

The pizza company in question are delighted with the result and will continue to use TRACKER in all their scooters. By having a bike stolen, this not only costs money for the bike itself but also for the lost revenue due to fewer deliveries being made in the absence of the bike.

So for all the bike thieves out there, think again…. you are more than likely being tracked and the police will know where you are almost instantly and will also be able to see exactly where you have been!

If the bike has already been placed in a crate waiting to be shipped, the device will still work. Insurance companies give a very good discount on bikes with a tracking device, so if a bike is worth a £1000 or over it is well worth the outlay for this product.

Tracker has its tracking system operated in all 52 UK police forces. It aids the recovery of stolen cars, vans, Lorries, motor homes, plant machinery, motorcycles and commercial vehicles and this award offers the recognition of what this has achieved.

Tracker uses a Very High Frequency (VHF) in helping the police recover an average of two million pounds worth of stolen vehicles every month. Because the VHF system is immune from GPS and GSM jammers it safeguards them from being brought down by this sort of attack as jamming is a technique used by thieves to block satellite signals and therefore stop the police tracking the stoilen vehicle.

The acting Chief Inspector, Mark Hooper is reported to say they will continue to work with Tracker as they are recognised as one of their partnership organisations.

With a continuing focus on innovation and the development of products, Tracker look to stay one step ahead. It is reported that this summer Tracker will launch a new system called the Tracker Locate system. It will combine all the benefits of VHF/GPS and GSM solutions.

The report also went on to say that Plextek are continuing to design and supply stolen vehicle recovery systems and its current UK purchaser is TRACKER and it’s US purchase is LoJack Corporation.

Statistics show that since 1993 TRACKER have recovered around 18000 stolen vehicles worth in the region of four hundred million pounds. Alongside this the police have managed to arrest approximately 1,800 car thieves.

Plextek was originally a design consultancy expanding out into manufacturing and supply after the 2001 recession. Soon after it is reported they became the main supplier, displacing another major multinational supplier for LoJack for their in-car stolen recovery vehicle devices.

Within the report figures showed that Plextek own tracking systems have now been installed into over five million vehicles spanning across 28 countries.

The success of the vehicle tracking system technology is said to be a major factor in their achievement of winning the international award for trade. However, they are also said to have been approached by the UK ministry of defence who were interested in their portable and fixed electronic scanning radars, it seems their success will continue to build.
