Birmingham City Council have recently enjoyed the benefits of having a Vehicle Tracking System installed, says a report recently released.
Birmingham CC are said to service over 400,000 homes and being as cost effective as possible especially when dealing with the public’s money is of great importance. To do this they were looking for a system that would enable them to monitor their vehicles and know their exact locations when needed. It has been reported that 300 of their Waste Management Vehicles have been installed so far with the tracking system and a fuel management system is being trialled in the compactor vehicles which is already beginning to show a £1,700 saving per vehicle.
The system they have gone for, offers a simple to use solution with 60 second updates,24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
Birmingham City Council are said to be delighted that they have made this investment into tracking and reaping the benefits of being able to monitor and manage their assets effectively.
These systems allow the council to manage their drivers individual behaviours, such as, speed, time spent idling, MPG and areas where drivers are harsh on the brakes and accelerator. This all helps the council to identify areas of improvement and offer driver training programmes.
