Tracking systems come in a variety of forms to serve a wide range of purposes, such as fleet management, employee safety and vehicle security.
A vehicles security is greatly increased when an anti theft tracking system is installed. In fact, for high end sports and executive vehicles many insurance companies now insist on an anti theft tracking system as a condition of the insurance cover. In the majority of cases insurance companies will request that a Thatcham TQA standard tracking system is installed but for vehicles such as supercars a Thatcham Cat 5 system may be required, as these offer the highest levels of vehicle security.
An anti theft tracking system requires a small device to be covertly installed into a vehicle. These devices not only track vehicles but proactively monitor vehicles for any suspicious activity such as movement without the ignition being on or sudden impact or vibration.
Upon detection of suspicious activity the tracking provider’s control centre, which is manned 24 hours a day, will be immediately notified. First of all the control centre will contact the vehicles owner to confirm that it is indeed stolen. If the owner confirms that the vehicle is stolen the control centre liaise with the Police to ensure that the stolen vehicle is recovered as quickly as possible.
