Anti theft tracking is becoming increasingly popular due to the price reductions seen in recent years and the significant reductions it can obtain in insurance premiums. Many vehicle insurance companies require an anti theft tracking system to be installed into high end sports and executive vehicles before being able to provide cover for the vehicle.
There are different types of tracking system available that offer different levels of security with highest level named Thatcham Category 5. Anti theft systems require a tracking device to be installed covertly into a vehicle. Many of these devices have a range of onboard and remote sensors that detect suspicious activity when the vehicle’s ignition is off.
When suspicious activity occurs such as movements with the ignition off, sudden shock or vibration or a door being forced open, the tracking systems will raise an alert at the providers control centre. The tracking control centre will then contact the driver or an alternative contact (if provided) to confirm that they are not with vehicle and it has indeed been stolen. The tracking control centre then liaises with the Police to ensure that the stolen vehicle is recovered as quickly as possible and any damage to the vehicle is minimised.
Individuals are normally able to achieve substantial savings on their vehicle insurance premiums and this can make purchasing an anti theft tracking system a worthwhile investment.
