Many fleet tracking systems share a range of standard features that provide the benefits that the majority of businesses seek from a tracking system. In addition to these, many tracking suppliers offer their customers more advanced features that can be included with the system, although these are designed for more specific requirements.
A good example of one of these features is a temperature sensor. These monitor the ambient temperature of the environment where it is fitted and feeds the temperature data back via the tracking device installed in the vehicle where it is then made available to the user on their tracking application. In addition, many tracking systems can also provide alerts should a temperature rise or fall below specified limits. Temperature sensors in particular benefit companies that distribute cold or frozen food.
PTO (Power Take Off) switches are another advanced feature that can benefit many companies. PTO switches allow users to monitor the activity of additional electrical or mechanical vehicle equipment such as cranes, tail lifts or tippers. PTO switches monitor when these mechanisms are in use and feeds back the data to the user via the tracking device. These systems are ideal for companies that need to monitor their vehicle’s activity in great detail.
