In a study by the AA it has been found that 28% of their members are restricting the amount they spend on fuel. Sharp increases in fuel prices have been the cause of many being very cautious about how much they spend on fuel.
Prices have increased to such a degree in the past year, that on average you get 34.6 miles less for every £30 you spend than you would have done a year ago. When you see statistics like this you start to see how it affects people and their businesses in real terms.
For this reason it is important to make sure fuel is not wasted and that you get the best deal for your money. For businesses that use more than 300 litres a month, a fuel card may be an option. Fuel cards can help businesses to save money on their fuel purchases by fixing the rate you pay for fuel each week.
Other ways to save on fuel is to put a stop to wasted journeys and excessive idling. Both of these problems can be fixed using vehicle tracking to keep an eye on your fleet and with costs starting at only £12 a month per vehicle you can see that it can more than pay for its self.
The AA also reported that there are an increased number of call outs to vehicles which have run out of fuel from this time last year. This is another sign that people are avoiding buying fuel due to increased prices.
